Daily Mail Front Page News Practical

My finished Daily Mail Front cover:

 1) What was the task you were given and who was your target audience?
The task we were given was to create a Daily Mail cover about Meghan Markle breaking up with Prince Harry , targeted at a Daily Mail reader.
2) What research did you undertake and what did you find were some of the typical conventions of a Daily Mail front cover - layout, types of stories, fonts
I researched different daily mail covers and different layouts from different covers to figure out the best layout to have 2 stories, a primary story with no picture and a secondary story with a picture. I never pinned down the right fonts for different articles but I got close on a few.

 3) Which Daily Mail cover did you use as your main source? Insert. What are your observations from this source?

4) Which areas did you find most challenging?
Spacing of the headlines and all the words was very difficult. As well as with, using trial and error to get the closest fonts was very time consuming. The Photoshop of the picture of Meghan took a long time at first trying to learn it but once I had the hang of it, it was a lot easier. Writing the article on Theresa May as the main article took a long time as well as I had to write a  completely different article from scratch.
5) What was you initial feedback? What did others say about your production? How successful was do you think it is?
At first, I had some spacing issues and had the wrong fonts on different articles. I corrected this as best as I could as quick as possible.
 6) Identify what went well and with hindsight what you do to improve/do differently.
I think I still have some problems with spacing next to the headlines , so If I could I would try to change and fix that.
 7) In the exam you will be analysing newspaper front covers. In producing this cover, are there any areas that you hadn't noticed before? What have you learnt from completing this task?

Next time I analyse a newspaper cover, I will notice the importance of spacing more and when they have spaced and when they haven't. From this task, I have learnt that making a newspaper cover is extremely hard and I have new found respect for anyone who does it as a living.
